I have been a bronze figurative artist for over 35 years. While working and raising my children, I quietly pursued my sculpture purely for the pleasure and joy of it. It is my passion and my gift.
Unlike most bronze sculptors who create in clay, I learned to create directly in wax. From there, my finished wax sculpture goes to a foundry. They first make a mold of the piece, and through a series of processes, a bronze is created and finished, and a patina is applied. All of these foundry processes require talent and expertise. It is an art for which I have great respect and appreciation.
My early sculptures were all strong female images reflecting the personal issues I was working through. By giving them form, I was naming them, bringing them out of the dark and into the light to be released.
The next series of sculptures was quite different as I moved out of the physical into the light and other realms. I focused on ethereal beings who were small and thin with a feminine delicacy. A couple of faerie beings and trolls slipped in as well.
All these beings are my personal representations. I energetically see, feel, and interpret them through my distinctive human lens. While none have yet appeared to me physically, my experience of them and my relationships with them are extremely rich and continually growing.
In this current body of work, some of the beings are physical, and some exist at higher energetic levels. I work intimately with their energies to capture their unique resonance in physical form. I sometimes have no idea why I make particular choices related to their image, but I move forward with trust.
Contrary to websites I have visited on the internet, I have learned that not all beings from the same civilization look alike. Like us, each being is unique, and there can be a lot of variety. Other artists also represent beings from other worlds in various media, often very differently than mine, and also from their unique point of view.
As I begin to sculpt a being, their presence is usually quite strong as we decide how to proceed. They bring their excitement, encouragement, and humor. I listen. They are so incredibly patient with my process. In addition to my studio, I feel them in random places at home, in the car, or at the supermarket. If I need clarification on a particular aspect of a sculpture, I may get a quick flash of an image as I engage in a mundane task such as washing the dishes or brushing my teeth. When I am sitting quietly, they might softly join me in the next chair. It certainly makes my life interesting. I welcome these moments, particularly when chills start to flow through my body as I am filled with their intense love and gratitude. Often there are tears.
As I continue to open to their energies, I know I have deep soul connections with these elegant beings and love each of them. I don’t believe there is a "right" way to contact or develop a personal relationship with them. With interest and open hearts, we find our way to common ground and meet as equal to, but different from.
I am pleased and excited to present each of these beings who are a part of our Galactic Community.
